Coverage made clear

Does Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance cover skilled care at home?

Short-term skilled care can be covered by Medicare or Medicaid—with no deductibles or copays—when it is medically necessary and referred by a physician. Private insurance may also cover this care, though requirements and pay structures differ.

To qualify for the Medicare Home Health Benefit, you must meet all of the following:

  1. A doctor provides a referral and plan for medical care at home
  2. You are homebound, or leaving home requires considerable and taxing effort
  3. You require one of the following: intermittent (not full-time) skilled nursing care; physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology services; or an appointment with your provider shortly before or after starting care

We know insurance coverage can be confusing. Our team is here to help you understand your coverage, verify your benefits, and guide you through the process—so you can focus on your recovery, not the paperwork. Contact us to learn more about coverage.
